Above-the-Line Charitable Deduction (Non-Itemizers)

  • Even if you take the standard deduction, you may still be eligible to claim an additional charitable deduction for cash gifts to qualified charities:
  • Up to $1,000 for individual filers
  • Up to $2,000 for married couples filing jointly
  • This is a simple way for many donors to support a mission they care about while receiving a tax benefit.

IRA Charitable Distribution (QCD)

  • If you are age 70½ or older, you may be able to direct a gift from your IRA straight to Solo Parent as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
  • 2026 limit: up to $111,000 per person can be given tax-free through a QCD.
  • QCD gifts can also satisfy Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).
  • Important: The distribution must be sent directly from your IRA custodian/broker to Solo Parent (checks should be issued by the custodian, not from a personal account).
