Who We Are

Solo Parent was founded on the belief that no one should face solo parenting alone. Today, it’s a thriving movement dedicated to providing single parents with the resources, community, and encouragement they need to build strong families and a hopeful future.

Our story

How It All Started

For years, Robert Beeson thrived as a Grammy Award-winning music executive, and by all appearances, his family did too. But everything changed when his wife walked out, leaving him to raise their three daughters alone. Though this wasn’t the path he would have chosen, the unexpected journey became a profound turning point—one that reshaped his understanding of life, faith, and purpose.

Drawing from his 8 ½ years as a single dad, Robert founded Solo Parent in 2017 to provide the support he wished he had during his own journey. What started as a small support group in Franklin, TN, quickly grew—reaching capacity without a single announcement from the pulpit. Today, Solo Parent has expanded to 18 states, the U.S. military, and international online communities, offering a lifeline to solo parents worldwide. In 2018, Robert shared his story and insights in Going Solo – Hope and Healing for the Single Mom and Dad, published by Focus on the Family.

Since its founding, Solo Parent has impacted over 225,000 solo parents through support groups, resources, podcasts, and daily devotions—helping them move from surviving to thriving.
