The strength of our Nation is our Military.
The strength of our Military is our Service Members.
The strength of our Service Members is their Families.

Military single parents are dedicated to the mission. They are devoted to their children. Yet they carry unique burdens. While all military parents face demanding challenges, long hours, and high standards, military single parents serve without a partner at home to share the load. There’s no backup when duty calls at midnight. The next PCS means they carry the stress of the family transition alone.

All too often they struggle in silence. They don’t ask for help to avoid appearing less capable, less committed, or less ready. They don’t have more needs, they need new resources.

The truth is, military single parents are some of the most resourceful, resilient people in uniform.

Serve their country. Raise their family.
Military single parents can do both.

Solo Parent is on a mission to empower single parents to overcome challenges and to raise healthy kids. We are honored to partner with the Department of War to provide military single parents with the community and resources they need to thrive, both in uniform and at home.

Meet Solo Parent’s Director of Military Partnerships

Dr. Scott F. Kennaugh, LTC, USA (Ret.)

“In the Army, I served with many single parents who were dedicated to their mission and their children. But they had to figure it out on their own. Here at Solo Parent, we are creating resources and communities to support military single parents so they can have successful careers and successful families.”

MARCH 21

Reclaiming National Single Parent Day

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared March 21 as National Single Parent Day, recognizing single parents as heroes who love fiercely and give selflessly.

Nearly 40 years later, most people don’t even know this day exists.

It’s time to change that. Follow us on Instagram to get involved and help us honor the 23 million kids growing up in single-parent homes, and the parents who do it all.
